Brothers die in go kart accident

Two brothers, four and 11 years-old, were killed earlier this month in a go kart accident in Altamont.

The family’s ten and 11 year-old sons were driving the go kart around the yard when the youngest brother asked for a ride. Both parents agreed to let the four year-old get in if the oldest brother operated the gas pedals.

It was when they drove out of the yard and down a hill towards the road that the parents saw a car coming. The driver of the vehicle did not see the go kart and hit it, sending it at least 100 feet from the site of impact. The youngest brother was killed instantly and the other died en route to the hospital.

Our deepest sympathies are with the friends and family of the young brothers.
