Knoxville fire injures two

Two people suffered minor injuries after a fire broke out in their home in east Knoxville.

The two residents, a mother and daughter, were taken to University of Tennessee Medical Center Saturday night. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, but arson investigators are expected to inspect the premises.

Neighbors say they heard an explosion Saturday night and looked out to see the house engulfed with flames. Witnesses say the roof was on fire and flames were as tall as the trees. Fire fighters had the fire under control by 9 pm, just half an hour after the fire is believed to have started.
