One dead in Robertson County commercial truck accident

An article of News 2 on September 22 revealed that at least one person died in an accident in the western portion of Robertson County that involved two commercial trucks and a passenger vehicle.

Reports said at about 11:30 a.m. personnel from the Tennessee Highway Patrol responded to a three-vehicle accident on Interstate 24 at the vicinity of Montgomery County line. The accident resulted in one fatality, and authorities did not release the identity of the deceased and other persons involved in the incident. One of the trucks involved in the accident reportedly contained hazardous material. Highway authorities are still figuring out the cause of the accident, which left the area blocked off for hours.

Approximately 222,000 units of washing machines are being recalled by GE Appliances due to complaints that the washer may overheat and catch fire while being used, a September 15 article of cpsc.gov reported.

4 injured in Nashville accident

At least four people suffered injuries after they were involved in a vehicular accident in the southern portion of Nashville, an article of WKRN News 2 reported on September 10.

Reports said the accident happened around 9:00 p.m. on Interstate 24, near the Briley Parkway exit. Police told reports that a two-vehicle accident initially prompted two vehicle passengers to exit their vehicles. While inspecting the damage to their vehicle, an oncoming vehicle struck them and a third person, who went to the scene to provide assistance. Two of the injured people were believed to have sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities did not release the identities of the persons involved.

Thousands of ATVs with fire hazards included in Polaris broadened recall

Approximately 13,000 units of “Recreational Off-Highway Vehicles” have been included in a recall from Minnesota-based Polaris Industries, Inc., due to an engine defect that can cause the vehicles to catch fire, an article for cpsc.gov reported on September 1.

According to the recall, the engines of the affected ROVs may emit excessive heat during operation. Polaris in 2015 initially recalled 2,230 various models of ROVs as they may also catch fire if the drain tube of the turbo system malfunctions. At least six persons in the 19 complaints received by Polaris suffered burn injuries. Polaris is addressing the situation by offering a “free repair” to consumers who were affected by the recall. Consumers were also advised to refrain from using their affected ROV units while waiting for the appropriate repair.
