A medical malpractice lawsuit has been filed by two parents after their infant son developed cerebral palsy shortly after birth. According to the lawsuit, the doctors and the hospital acted negligent after they failed to perform an emergency C-section.
Before delivery, the doctors suspected the infant was experiencing a loss of oxygen but chose not to deliver the child through C-section because it had a strong heartbeat. However, the heartbeat was actually the mother’s.
As a result, their son experienced hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy, which deprived the brain of oxygen and lead to cerebral palsy. The parents are seeking compensation and damages to pay for their son’s life-long medical care.
