3 Doors Down bassist charged after causing fatal accident

The bassist for the rock band 3 Doors Down, Robert Todd Harrell, was recently charged with vehicular homicide by intoxication after he caused a fatal crash on the night of April 19.Robert Todd Harrell

The charge is in connection with the fatal accident that happened on Interstate 40, which killed Paul Howard Shoulders Jr., 47. According to police, Harrell was speeding through the Hermitage suburb when his vehicle clipped the pickup driven by Shoulders. Shoulders was thrown from his pickup after it lost control and went off the road.

Police noted that Harrell’s was impaired during the sobriety tests and was also charged with bringing controlled substances in jail after they discover Xanax, Oxycodone, and Oxymorphone pills hidden in his socks while in the booking room. Harrell appears in court on April 25.

Teacher dies from car crash injuries

A middle school teacher died from injuries she sustained after her car slammed on a tree last Friday.

On Monday, Metro Police announced that 28-year-old Carol Lampley had died on Saturday at Vanderbilt University Medical Hospital, a day after the single-car crash. According to police reports, the McMurray Middle School teacher was driving her car east on Thompson Lane when she slammed into a tree after going over the exit at Franklin Road. Police said Lampley was not wearing a seatbelt when her car crashed on a tree and found no evidence of alcohol on the scene. At the time of the police report, the cause of the accident was not yet known.

Lampley is survived by her husband, son, and parents.

Franklin woman arrested for DUI after accident

A 46 year-old Franklin woman was arrested early Saturday morning and charged with her third drunk driving offense after she rear-ended another vehicle. According to News Channel 5, the woman drove off after rear-ending a car at a downtown intersection.

Witnesses told police that they then saw her merge into oncoming traffic. Authorities arrested her for DUI and violating implied consent. After refusing to take a breath or blood test, officers took her to Williamson Medical Center for a mandatory blood test.

In Tennessee, officers are allowed to take blood tests if the suspect is being arrested for a second or subsequent drunk driving charges. She has since been released on bond.
