Patient sues hospital after falling off operating table

An elderly Connecticut woman has filed a lawsuit against Yale-New Haven Hospital after she says she was seriously injured when she fell off of an operating table following a pacemaker implant, the Huffington Post reports.

The 81 year-old suffered a fractured hip and collar bone, a serious head injury that caused her her brain to bleed, among other injuries. She and her attorney claim the hospital’s to blame because it did not have policies or procedures in place to prevent her fall.

The woman also blames the hospital staff for failing to realize she had not recovered from medication given to her after surgery, which increased her risk of falling. She is seeking $15,000 in damages.
