A suspected reckless driver, who authorities believed was under the influence of intoxicants (DUI), was recently charged in La Vergne after he got involved in a mishap where his vehicle caught fire, a December 27 article of wate.com reported.
Reports revealed that alongside the DUI, 24-year-old Spencer Rhodes was also charged with reckless driving and felony reckless endangerment after he broadsided a vehicle on Interstate 24 West. At around 3:00 a.m., the state highway patrol was notified of a vehicle driving the opposite lane moments before the mishap. Rhodes’ vehicle reportedly caught fire in the vicinity of Waldron Road exit. Dispatchers told reports that Rhodes had traveled as far as 12 miles in the wrong-way before the fire broke out. Traffic flow on the affected roads in I-24 was restored after few hours.
The Nashville attorneys of the Pohl & Berk, LLP strongly believe that such mishaps can be avoided if the driver is not reckless while behind the wheel.
