Charges in process for a car accident that killed bicyclist

The pickup driver who broadsided a bicyclist last month will be charged after the victim died due to serious injuries, Times News reported on June 3.

Charges are being prepared against Stephen Trent by the Tennessee Highway Patrol. Reports said the 20-year-old pickup driver was heading westbound at East Main Street when he ran into Herschell Lawson, 78, who was also traveling westbound on his bicycle. Lawson reportedly hit the pavement after he was struck by the vehicle. Lawson died at Holston Valley Medical Center on May 25.
