Nashville police believe it was reckless drag racing that caused a deadly car accident over the weekend.
The crash occurred on Friday morning on Murfreesboro Road. A witness said that the two cars appeared to be racing, driving at least 100 mph. It was when the cars attempted to get around her that one of the vehicles lost control. The driver of a black Lexus went off the road and became airborne for at least eighty yards before hitting a tree.
The car immediately burst into flames and the driver was killed. So far, police have not been able to identify the driver of the Lexus or the other driver he or she was racing.
Our deepest sympathies are with the family and friends of the victim.
