Misdiagnosis leads to stomach being removed

An Australian man feared for the worst during a meeting with his doctors following a surgery that removed 80% of his stomach. However, he learned that initial readings of his biopsy were wrong and that, in fact, he never had cancer.

The 59 year-old father had underwent seven rounds of chemotherapy, which caused him to lose nearly 45 pounds, along with the removal of most of his stomach before the mistake was discovered. He has filed a lawsuit against the Central Coast Local Health District for monetary compensation, but he also wants an apology.

He says he suffers from depression and anxiety following the procedure, and is physically unable to eat while sitting down.
