Reports coming from the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) state the accident occurred at around 12:00 a.m. on Highway 12 North, several miles away from Ashland City. The driver, whose name was not released, reportedly lost control of the vehicle while navigating a sharp curve on that stretch of the highway. The pickup rolled over, crushing the roof. The driver was listed in critical condition, while his male passenger suffered only minor injuries.

On Monday, February 3 the National Highway Traffic Safety Association (NHTSA) announced plans to further develop technology that will improve the safety of drivers.
The new proposed technology is called vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) technology. It will allow for direct communication between cars which could decrease car accidents by 80 percent and improve traffic flow.
NHTSA said several car makers are already designing their cars to include the technology. The NHTSA will likely push a regulatory proposal to require new cars have V2V technology in the near future.

Actor Paul Walker was killed in a car crash in Southern California on Saturday, November 30.
Reports said the crash occurred in San Clarita City when the Porsche Carrera GT that Walker and Roger Rodas occupied, slammed into a utility post. Both men died instantly.
In a statement, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said that excessive speed most likely caused the accident. At the time of the crash, Rodas and Walker were en route to an event for Walker’s charity, Reach Out WorldWide.
