TDOT to improve Sumner County intersection after fatal crash

Transportation authorities in Tennessee are planning to improve a dangerous intersection in Sumner County after a fatal accident that took the lives of two teens, an article on News 2 reported March 30.

Reports said the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) will improve Old Highway 109 and Scotty Parker Road by adding a barrier wall at the center median. The move reportedly will change the traffic pattern at the intersection by preventing motorists from making right turns. The road improvement was planned after teenagers Austin Osborne and Kayla Perdue were killed in an accident on November 3 of last year. The two teens were among the four occupants of an SUV that was struck by a semi truck at the intersection. SUV driver Justin Lemmonds, Jr. and Caitlyn Taylor also sustained serious injuries in the crash. The road construction will include placing additional traffic signs in the area and is slated to begin on April 1.

Families who lose their loved ones in fatal accidents often struggle emotionally, physically, and financially.
