Thousands of Tesla charging adapters recalled

A voluntary recall was issued on December 6 by automaker Tesla Motors Inc. to an estimated 7,000 adapters used for charging electric-powered vehicles in the US due risks of overheating, an article of Bloomberg reported.

According to reports, the recall was issued after Tesla was notified in November of two overheating charging adapter complaints. The adapters, which have plastic liable to melt, have four prongs that can also be used to charge vehicles using clothes-dryer outlets. Tesla said that only three of their charging adapters are being recalled and affected vehicle owners are in the US. Owners of the affected adapters should expect to get a product replacement after three months and have been advised to avoid using the recalled adapters.
