Yesterday morning, a 41 year-old advertising executive for Y&R was killed in an elevator accident in Manhattan.
According to the Fire Department, the woman was walking into the elevator when it suddenly began to move. She became trapped as it continued to ascend, killing her, before it stopped between the first and second floors.
Two people inside the elevator helplessly witnessed the entire accident and were taken to the hospital for psychological trauma. Workers in the office building were evacuated and told to work from home today.
Over a dozen open violations involving the building’s elevators are on record, two in the last year. A spokesperson claims they were not for dangerous conditions.
